Kalma Yoga

All children in Nursery AM and PM groups to take part in weekly Yoga sessions. Not a lot of our pupils get to take part in activities outside of school and we think using mindfulness and yoga would benefit them by encouraging midline crossing, creating strong flexible bodies, and developing core strength. Using mindfulness, breathing techniques and helping increase concentration. This will help build confidence and self-esteem, enhancing team spirit and social interaction.

The nursery children had a fantastic time participating in the Yoga sessions. I was very impressed with their ability to focus, concentrate and follow the instructions. The activities were very well matched to the age and stage of development for the children in the nursery. Yoga gave the children the opportunity to not only learn some of the basic moves but also covered so many areas of the early years curriculum including, personal social emotional development, and physical development.
