The Great Bede Bake Off

Last year, our school was given the old community centre, which is attached to our building. We have turned the large kitchen into a copy of the Great British Bake Off tent. The diets our children have can be of concern due to the reliance on ready meals and fast foods. We would like to create a replica of the GBBO contestants’ work area for children. This would hopefully allow parents and children to learn new skills together. The kitchen will be used to teach children how to cook healthy breakfasts in our breakfast club; it will be used throughout the day as part of our curriculum and, what I believe will be the most important time, after school with parents and children. Cooking is a life skill and by having a very special resource for parents and children, we can support families in developing skills, enhance mental wellbeing and model providing healthy lifestyles.
